Lion Country Pony Club wins the PC Dressage Rally Nationals!

This is a picture of the VERY exhausted Lion Country Pony Club Quadrille Team (Quatre Cheveux) - all smiles after winning 1st place (and a gold medal) in USPC Championships in Virginia last weekend following 4 days of competition.  This was quite a surprise, even though they worked very hard (many late night practices several times per week over the winter - all over town - lots of trailering horses and homework left until 10 PM to pull this off!) to get ready.  The team from Virginia has been doing this for 9 years, plus were older girls, and qualified for dressage and eventing also (can only pick one discipline to ride in for Championships) - which meant they were extremely good!  The folks from Virginia were shocked, to say the least, that our girls beat them - and 1st year newbies at that!  the girls worked so hard and did a great job!

Be sure to come see the girls ride their Musical Freestyle Quadrille at AG Progress Days on Tue!

Our Kids Rock!

Here's the Eastern Pennsylvania Senior D Quiz Team after a fantastic 2nd place finish (out of 34 teams nationally, 5 points behind the top spot - a razor thin margin for this event!) at the 2007 United States Pony Club National Championships. The Championships were held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, involving three days of competition. Quiz is an unmounted competition that tests the competitor's horse-related knowledge in a variety of equine topics, through various phases. Preparing for Quiz involves months of studying, motivation and most importantly, dedication.

The members of the team are as follows:  Maggie Davis, Sadie Smith, Jordan Karch, and Julia Kelsey (captain).  All four girls are members of the KDCTA and Lion Country Pony Club.

The team was determined by individual placings at the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional Quiz Rally, held in March 2007. Two other Lion Country Pony Club members also competed in Quiz at Nationals: KDCTA member Leilani Becker Nelson competed on a Junior D Team, and Sophia Fricke competed on a Junior C Team. We suggest that you contact Mary Gail Becker for further information and photos about these other two teams.
